About Andrea
Andrea was educated at Moorside Comprehensive School in Consett, County Durham before going on to study Business and Finance at New College Durham. She began her professional life in the tourist industry where she was employed by the Northumbria Tourist Board to promote the North East of England and to support business growth in the tourism.
For over 11 years, Andrea travelled the world promoting the wonderful region and its rich heritage. Andrea studied for her Chartered Marketing Diploma between 1988-91, leading to her acquiring full Chartered Marketing Status in 1999, which she has maintained with regular continuous professional development ever since.
In 1996, Andrea was appointed as the first Marketing Manager of Eldon Square Shopping Centre in central Newcastle and continued to study while working full time. She has attained a CAM Advanced Diploma in Communications Management and went on to achieve a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management Development in 2012 from Northumbria University.
She has for many years been highly successful in the continued development of business in the North East of England in her capacity as Business Development Area Manager for the North with ‘Business Durham’. In addition, for over 35 years, Andrea has supported, on a voluntary basis, young people in a variety of roles across schools, local church and local authority organisations and she currently runs a local Rainbows Group (aged 5-7) for the Girl Guiding organisation. She has also been active as a School Governor at Delves Lane Primary School Consett, where she was chair for 12 years.
Andrea remains passionate about helping young people to realise their dreams and is committed to supporting the success of Building Self Belief CIO in her capacity as a Trustee.
