'Two Hundred Years Later'
This project was created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1826 Stargate Pit Disaster near Ryton, Gateshead, in partnership with Building Self Belief CIO and Crookhill Primary School. Through a series of original poems, we reflected on the human impact of the disaster and gave a voice to the people, families, and community affected by the events of 1826.Created for the 200th anniversary commemorations, this poem looks at how the Stargate Pit Disaster is still remembered today and how the lives lost continue to be honoured by the local community two centuries later.

Creating our Very own Fairy Garden
When we asked the children at our Children's Gardening Club, what they thought was missing from our community garden, the one thing they all really wanted was their very own Fary Garden. Delves Lane Primary School Poetry Anthology Part 3
The children at Delves Lane Primary School learnt about the history of the Consett Steelworks and developed their understanding of the impact that the steelworks closure had, and continues to have, on the community. They created paintings, poems and decorated a quilt. Each group chose a photo relating to the Consett Steelworks, and wrote their own poems using poetic techniques. We hope you enjoy them!
