Youth Panel

The Youth Panel is a group of youth representatives working closely with BSBCIO to ensure we are meeting the needs of the young people. By being the 'voice' of the community they aim to guide and support the local people to take action to make Consett a more inviting place for our young people to live.

Our Aims

1. To equip our young people with the skills to take an active role as future leaders in their community.

2. To empower young people by giving them the strategies to improve their self-belief and take ownership of their lives.

3. To encourage our young people to use their creativity and imagination to help improve their local area.

4. To make young people aware of their environment and their capabilities in controlling their own life and the lives of others as a force for good.

5. To encourage young people across the generations to build stronger communities.

Youth Panel

Our aim is to create a Youth Panel, where we give young people a voice and a say in how the community should be supporting them. Take a look at our Youth Manifesto that our young people have produced to guide and support the local people to take action to make Consett a more inviting place for our young people to live.

High Sherriff Youth Awards

Earlier in March, we were delighted and honoured to have attended the High Sherriff Youth Awards at Ushaw College. This is yet another opportunity to visit an historic building, with the added bonus of the potential for winning an award for their thoroughly deserving young people.

The High Sheriff Awards was a great event. We were so pleased to get an award, and we loved the way the event was organised - it was formal but they also made it fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Morpeth Castle. We were astounded by the beauty of the area and it made it a great place to get together with the Youth Panel to update our Youth Manifesto. The whole trip was filled with laughs and I hope to have the opportunity to experience such a trip again.
