"Mining or Fighting, What a Dilema!" Poem - South Stanley Junior School
This poem was created by Jack, Isla, and Theo, Year 6 pupils from South Stanley Junior School, as part of our 'Celebrating Stanley' project. Their words reflect the tough choice many young men once faced between life in the mines and going to war, contrasting the harsh conditions underground with the frightening reality of the battlefield.
