Congratulations Hugo - GNR 2024!
Once again our fabulous Chair, Dr Hugo Minney has completed the Great North Run on our behalf. The Great North Run is a spectacular event for the whole region and it is so brilliant to see so many people running on behalf of so many charities.
We are always grateful for the time and effort Hugo repeatedly puts in to such an event. His barefoot running is a great conversation starter!

Our volunteer, Maisie Dobson, conducts an interview with her great-grandma, Jean Simmons, aged 96, discussing life and work in Consett during the peak of the Consett Steelworks era. During the conversation, Jean mentions a royal visit to the steelworks, prompting Maisie to enquire about its accuracy. Upon researching, we discovered that the event did indeed occur. Mayors Opportunity Fund - Green Hands Together
With help from the Mayor's Opportunity Fund, they have helped us transform Benfieldside Community Garden from derelict land. Their support has made a huge difference and we have enlisted young people to the Green Hands Together project to work on the garden, creating a flourishing community space. It has brought everybody together.
